Win a Book!

Image
I am giving away a copy of my dad's book, Are You Ready to Adopt? over on the Gift of Hope Adoptions Facebook page!    By entering not only will you get the chance to win this book, but you'll hopefully be helping some of our waiting adoptive families find their children! While likes and shares are not required for entry, they are encouraged as a charitable gesture ;) Hurry, contest ends Mon 12/21! Please note, while there may be affiliate links or payment for reviews, all opinions are my own. You can't buy a good review from me, people. I am way too mouthy for that.

Book Review: The Sensitives

Image
The Sensitives by D.O. Thomson My rating: 3 of 5 stars The power is out all over the world, and no one knows why. People are dying by the thousands, and only a few select people are figuring out that the origins might be not human. Race is charged with protecting his little crew of Sensitives, but together they might just have evolved enough to take on the Zul, but only if the Zul don’t find them first. The story is interesting - evolved humans taking out the alien equivalent of a drug cartel. Unfortunately, the writing depth does not do the story justice. The characters are shallow and stereotypical, such as the Canadian “Eh.” after every phrase, and the writing is curt to the point of staccato. The story jumps around in time, refusing to follow a linear progression, and goes into excruciating detail about several back stories. I really wanted to like this book because the plot intrigued me; unfortunately the juvenile writing prevented me from ever really engaging. Contest! ...

Contest!

As most of you know, I’m an online contest addict. Sweepstakes, blog contests, promotional giveaways, you name it I enter, as long as I don’t have to pay anything or get spammed. (Note to all you contest junkies – opt out of further communication if you don’t want it! Or at least opt out when you get that first email newsletter.) I don’t do too badly either, I’ve won some nice stuff, although as yet no trips or giant cash prizes, not for lack of trying. But still, I enjoy getting freebies in the mail, even when I know they’re coming. So, when I was approached by CSN Stores about hosting a giveaway for a $40 gift certificate to one of their stores, I decided it was time that I give a little back. So without further adieu, I give you my first blog contest! CSN Stores is a group of online department stores that apparently has EVERYTHING you could possibly want. They have furniture like headboards , dining room sets and cribs, they have home décor, housewares, baby and kid stuff, stuff...

Winnings Lately

Image
So I actually have won a couple contests recently, and I should give them a shout out. First was something for David, but probably not until he's a little older. I won a t-shirt that you can color in the picture, and then it washes out so you can recolor it before wearing. David's not into coloring yet, so I got a larger size, because I'm sure this will be way cool pretty soon. The shirt is from Color in Kids , and we got the Race Car one. I won this off a blog, but I can't find the email so I can't remember which blog contest it was (I enter LOTS) but when I find it, I will properly credit, I promise. The second thing I won recently was subsequently gifted to my mom. I *think* I won it off the In Touch magazine contests, but I'm not positive about that. Anyway, it's from Freeze 24-7, and it's the Freeze & Go Instant Smoother and Brightener . I'll let you know what mom thinks of it, but I thought the red packaging stuff was super cool looking. ...

Contest Addict

If any of you didn't know, I'm an online contest junkie. Particularly sweepstakes, as I don't really like to do too much to win (although I'm now starting to enter some scrap challenges). But I discovered this Blogroll of contests starting on the Rocks in My Dryer blog and now it seems I must enter all I'm interested in. So guess what I'm going to be doing now that David's asleep? You got it, entering, possibly 300 or so if I can type that fast. Wish me luck!
